Reflection/Evaluation

Reasearch reflection 

Throughout the time from the 5th of September to the 14th of October, I have been working on all the different aspects that are used to create a music video.  This time was dedicated to different things such as artists and why they are so popular, all the way to how music videos started.  Most of my work was provided by both Paul and Sam, they also went into more detail and helped when they could give feedback on what I had done to help me get better. Other than that, I did go off and do some research myself seen on the tracker that I made and my bibliography.

Behind all of the work that I have done I rather enjoyed what I was doing this is because everything that we were learning about was interesting to me and there for it was fun for me to do. Looking back at what I have done it seems that I have worked harder on this than I thought I had as there is more righting than I thought I did. I believe that the reason that the work that I have done is to a higher standard than it was last year is due to the fact that I know what I am doing better now but also to the fact that I did have so much more fun doing this than I have doing the rest of the projects this year.

I feel that everything did go very well with in all of my research, this is because I have worked very hard on all of it and also have really enjoyed doing all of it. I feel that the only thing that may not have gone so well with this research is the fact that I could have put dates on the work so that it would have been easier to track, also the fact that this could have been done sooner. Overall, I feel that this has gone very well and was very interesting to be able to do, I did very much enjoy doing this. There was only one situation that I did struggle with and that was due to the fact that I was unable to do my work for a short amount of time due to the fact that my computer did brake, the way that I overcame this was because I bought my self a new laptop and proceeded to bring it in to class for the times that there may not have been enough space so that I could still do work when down in the media sweets.

I feel that this has goner really well I'm more enthusiastic and ready to go, this is due to the work going so well and also enjoying all of the work that I have been doing. When it comes to how things could have been done differently, I believe that if I had responded differently to what I have done that I wouldn't have done as much as I have. Compared to the work that I have previously done I feel that the experiences that I have doing the research for this project has been very positive and just over all a great experience getting to look at different people and see how they work, but also how they create things from nothing.

I think that now the only things that I could do to try and make my research better is to look at what I've got and look at things such as putting dates on each piece of work as it has been done as it would lead to making things easier for feature reference such as the research tracker. Some of the fundamental skill that I think that I may need to improve on are spelling and looking into more detail with different things such as the differences around different people when it came to the artist. There is a large variety to the different things that I have been able to learn throughout this project just in the research section of this project, one of the many things that I had the pleasure of learning is then begins of MTV, where music videos acutely came from and what they were before they were given the name of music videos.

I am so thankful with all of the experiences of this because I can transferer the knowledge from all of the research to my FMP, but also this can help me out in the future when I want to work with music videos and films, this will be very helpful as this is the insight that I need to create a good piece of work and it has also given me the knowledge on how to find out what I need to get to be good at what I do. If I was to do this again, I think that I would be neater with what I am doing also try to watch out for as many spelling mistakes as possible.

Music video evaluation 

I was given a chance to pick a song and create a music video to go with the song, I was given so much creative freedom with this to make what I wanted to make. This project was given to us from the 5th of September to the 6th of December for the whole project, from the begging to the end we were given a lot of information and tasks to help with the video by both Sam and Paul, but when it came to making the video, I had some assistance from both Ashtion and Sophie. Both Sophie and Ashtion were very helpful, the only help with this that I got was from both of them being in my music video so that I could film them, and I did reave some feedback from Paul to fix some miner mistakes. Within this whole project I did the majority of the work this was done by doing all of the research, planning and recording but also, I did the editing and the evaluating so as you can see, I have done most of the work other than being in the music video.

When I was creating this video and doing all of the work behind the video, I was very excited, and I had so many ideas and I was very much enjoying what I was doing. But now after doing this work I'm very proud and happy with the outcome there are many things that I wanted to do and didn't get to do all of them, but I still had fun and am happy with what I have created. With the team that I had I was very lucky with them as they were fun and happy to do anything but in return, they had fun and I made sure they were comfortable with everything and happy as they deserved that. The fact that I had a goal of getting a good video, I believe that my impact did help so that I got the video that I wanted but I did take into consideration what they wanted and what they felt ok with.

I think that the filming went well, and all of my preparation was good, this is because I went into detail and was very excited about doing this work, the creativity that I had while doing this was amazing and that is why I am considering doing this again with a different song for my FMP. Something that may not have gone so well is that I did do my recording a bit late due to personal reasons and having a day off, but I have worked twice as hard to try and get this done. The maturity of this project has been a pleasant experience and has been fun going out of my comfort zone, doing new things but still having a good attitude about what I am doing. The only bad thing I feel that really happened was that I wanted a different person in my music video, but they bailed out last minute, but I did have that resolved as I did have a backup already just to be on the safe side.

I feel that things went so well because I was patient and communicated well with people, the way they were treated was with respect and we had boundaries before filming as I wanted them to feel as comfortable as possible. I feel that I still would have gotten the same results even if I had reacted to everything differently, but I acted the way that I would have wanted to be treated so that we all had fun and didn't feel bad in any way possible. The work that I had carried out with this project was amazing and fun, it was all different to what I have done before, the way that this was carried out compared to what I had done in GCSE's this was so much better and made the work that bit more enjoyable.

I feel that now what I could do better is doble check on spelling add things such as dates of things that I had done and maybe change some of the videos that I had done but also adding the reflection and the production on to the same page so it isn't so spread out, I think that I could also change some of the scenes in the video as I did go slightly off of the story board when it comes to the music video. Some of the fundamental skills that I think that I could improve on are just trying to get things done quickly and stay on point with what I am trying to say when it comes to different explanations. Other than a lot of new cool transitions and the importance of different lighting I have also learnt about what people put into a music video and how much fun it is abut also what it all started from.

As previously stated, I could use all of my new skills in all of my future pieces of work, and also in the nere future using it to help in my FMP. This can become a great help in anything that I want to do as it can go into a portfolio, and it can also be put on to display to promote my work in general. I feel that if I was to do this again, I would maybe choose a different song just so that I could have more fun with it and come up with different ideas for what I want to do, the work that I would like to do seems to be really fun and maybe I could also change the layout of my webnode as it seems all messy as it is so spread out. 

Referring back to Taylor Swift and her demographic, there are so many aspects that I could have included so that it would appeal to them. There were so many different ideas that I had but I still wanted to make it my own piece of work, so I decided to minimal such as the story line that I chaos to recreate was a break up such as that is the main focuses on some of the older songs, not only that but I used the idea from the original music video that they guy had messed up and went to fast and then left.
